The core responsibilities of DepEd Leyte Division is anchored on the thrusts which are in consonance with the thrusts of the higher offices of the Department of Education enumerated as follows:

• Decentralize educational management and decision-making authority down to school level with the intent of uniting the school heads, teachers, students, parents and other stakeholders in promoting effective schools.

• Spread out meager resources equitably.

• Intensify values education and sports development program.

• Provide basic educational services.

• Provide Technical Assistance to improve quality and relevance of basic education.
